Bertha Dixon Ramos

She is survived by her children Robert, Jose, Maria, John, Mark, Roberta and Michael. Her daughters in law Kang Sun, Margaret and Lori. Her sons in law Ian and David. Her grandchildren Rebecca, Lisa, Paula, Reuben, Robert, Alexander, Ian, Danielle, Joshua, Raigan and Athena. Her great grandchildren Raymond, Lorraine and great great grandchildren.

Bertha was born January 25, 1931 in El Paso Texas. She moved to Los Angeles in the 1950’s.

She was a single mother for many years raising her children in East Los Angeles and Azusa, California. She was a continuous learner throughout her life. She took courses in first aid, typing, short hand and data entry. She eventually began working at the University of La Verne in the Data Entry Department and retired from the accounting department in 1996.

She loved her family and was a mother figure to so many. She loved to laugh and have big family gatherings. Those family gatherings would almost always end with games of poker or dominos.

Mom was so proud of all of her children, grand children and great grand children and took great joy in hearing about the successes of her nieces, nephews, cousins and all of our friends. She cheered us all on.

Mom was 91 years old, her heart was tired and she was tired. Those 91 years hadn’t been all easy ones especially the early ones but she worked hard to create a better life for herself and her family.

She was able to say goodbye to all of her kids and grandkids and in typical mom fashion the last thing she did with each of us was bless us with the sign of the crucifix, so even as she knew her life was short she was worried about us and wanted us to be ok knowing that while she wouldn’t be here with us she was offering us blessings and protection.

She is reunited with her husband Robert Ramos, her son Richard Cervantes and her best friend her sister Mable Aguilar and so many she hasn’t seen in so long and we are sure there was a long reception line full of hugs to welcome her.

She is at peace

Services will be held on December 14th at Oakdale Cemetery in Glendora at 11am. Internment to take place after service.
