Asuncion “Sue” Villanueva Damian Heinzen, 92, was called to eternal rest on November 17, 2017 in Lancaster, California.
Sue was born on September 13, 1925, in Hacienda Villachuato, Michoacan, Mexico to Eutimio Espinosa Villanueva and Maria Anastasia Frausto Villanueva.
Called “Chona” by her family, Sue was a longtime resident of Glendora, CA. She received an AA degree in accounting from Citrus College in Glendora, and last worked as an accounting clerk at Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte, CA.
Sue was an active parishioner at St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church in Glendora. Her hobbies included photography and stamp collecting. She also enjoyed traveling to destinations within the United States and in Europe, the Middle East, Central America, and Mexico.
Sue was preceded in death by two spouces. Her first marriage was to Lino Damian in 1958; her second marriage was in 1989 to Carl R. Heinzen. Both marriages ended with the death of her husband. Although childless, Chona was an abiding presence in the lives of her numerous nieces and nephews.
Chona is survived by siblings Marina V. Reyes of Lancaster, Charles Villanueva (Sue) of Glendora, Tito Villanueva (Judy) of Caldwell, Idaho, Alfredo Villanueva (Clara) of Glendora and Miguel Villanueva (Zoe) of Glendora, and stepson Carl P. Heinzen (Angie) of Glendora. She was predeceased by siblings Ynez Villanueva, Bernarda Villanueva, and Isabel V. Siders.
