Anna Vogel-Newman was born to Ella Irene Campbell and Charles Vogel in Providence, Utah on March 13th, 1930. Her mother was of Scottish decent and her father was of Swiss decent. Her ancestors were pioneers who came across the plains from New York and were some of the original settlers in Ogden, Utah. She was the youngest of 12 siblings. Some of her favorite childhood memories were of her dad pushing her around their farm in his wheel barrel, climbing the surrounding hills for afternoon picnics and their family's "Annual Homemade Root-beer Assembly Line." She has fond memories of her mother and her siblings but would always say she was her father's favorite, she would run to greet him in the fields after he was done working and he would always have a special surprise in his pocket for her.
She eventually moved to California where she married and had 3 children, Larry Bazye, Michael Mulligan and Helene Mulligan. She became a single mother in her 30's and worked for Union Bank as an accountant until she retired at age 55. She traveled across the US and also loved being the treasurer for her local senior citizen club. She enjoyed camping, cake decorating, gardening, canning food, china painting, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, roller skating, playing Bingo, crafting and spending time with many friends and her beloved family.
Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She is remembered as our "Nana", a very strong, independent, loving woman who worked tirelessly in her lifetime to provide a better life for herself and for her family.
She is survived by her children Larry Bazye, spouse Lori Bayze, Helene Sanford, spouse William Sanford, her grandchildren Jayme Torres, spouse Steve Torres, Bill Sanford, spouse Alisa Sanford, Paul Bazye, spouse Audrey Bayze, Tony Kassas, Steven Bazye, spouse Jacki Bazye, great grandchildren Amber, Steven, spouse Jackie, Carina, Tobias, spouse Brooke, Heidi, spouse Cheyenne, Jack, Wyatt, Dorian, Donovan, Rhiannon, Aiden, Sierra and Lucian, and her great great grandchildren, Logan, James, Athena, Nevaeh, Charlotte, Kylie, Miley and Miles. Her death was preceded by her son Michael Mulligan, grandson James Sanford, all of her siblings and her previous husband Othel Newman.
A funeral service for Anna will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 1401 S Grand Ave, Glendora, CA 91733.
