On Friday, August 9th, 2024, Alma Taylor, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and cousin, passed away at the age of 86 at her home in Azusa, California. Alma joins her heavenly husband, Kelly Taylor, who passed in 2021. This year would have marked their 62nd wedding anniversary. Alma will be forever remembered by her daughter April Dawn, daughter-in-law Lyndel; grandson Michael and wife Sarah, great-granddaughter Marley, , (Alma was ecstatic about her great-granddaughter Taylor Jean, due December 28th); grandson Justin and partner Addie, great-grandson Ethan and great-granddaughter Keely. Alma loved her family and will also be remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Alma was born in Harford County, Maryland on February 19, 1938. Her family moved to California when she was 18. At 19, she met Kelly Taylor, and their courtship began. They were married in 1962 and adopted their daughter in 1967. Over the course of her lifetime, Alma worked for a variety of jobs that included many opportunities in sales. Her favorite job though, was working at 1st Nationwide Bank and talking to people.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kelly Taylor, her mother Margaret Katherine Alger, father Lester Alger, and siblings, Irma Hedrick, Audrey Sweezy, Gilbert Alger, and Charles Larry Alger.
Alma was the youngest daughter in her family of 5 siblings and the last child of Margaret and Lester to pass. Alma continued to love her state of Maryland and spoke fondly of her memories growing up on the east coast. A graveside service in memory of Alma will be held on Friday, September 6th at 3:00 pm, with a viewing at 2pm at Oakdale Mortuary and Memorial Park 1401 S. Grand Ave., Glendora, CA 91740.
Those who knew Alma, are aware of her love for owls. Recently, Alma had an amazing experience learning about owls at the Bear Paw Ranch Wildlife Rehabilitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pond Digger Ranch Wildlife Rehabilitation at 9012 Oak Glen Road, Cherry Valley, California 92223.
