Alice Contreras Baca was born on May 14, 1929, in Tucson, Arizona. She was 10 minutes older than her twin brother Reynaldo Contreras. In 1945, her family moved to Irwindale, California. She worked in the fields picking tomatoes, onions, and strawberry’s to earn money to help her family purchase their first home. In 1946, she met her husband and lifelong partner Ralph Baca. They married on October 24, 1948, and moved to Baldwin Park to their home on Clark Street where they lived for over 65 years. Together they provided a loving home for their five children.
Alice was a very humble person with very strong morals and values. She always provided a loving and nurturing environment for her family. She understood the importance of education and encouraged her children to strive to be the best at whatever they chose to do. She always supported her children and encouraged them to be involved in dance classes, sports programs and most importantly their community.
Alice enjoyed gardening, taking care of all her pets and listening to country western music. She was so proud of her white 1976 Chevrolet Caprice Classic.
Alice was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She leaves behind many great memories for everyone whose lives she touched. She will always be remembered for her love and dedication of family. She is survived by her children, Cruz Baca, Ralph Baca, Jr., Alice Drumm Sinay, Tony Baca, and Betty Rinaldi, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her, mother, Dominga Conteras, father Rafael Contreras, and husband of 62 years, Ralph Baca.
Alice surrounded by her loving family entered into eternal rest on January 9, 2014.
