Mildred E. Gruber, age 85, of Queens, New York passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Mildred Gruber passed away in her sleep on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Born on January 8, 1939 in New York. She was one of three children to Mildred and Richard Wiemert. Mildred grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Queens College with a Masters degree in education. After doing accounting work for several years, she decided to work for the New York City Board of Education as a Social Worker. For 30 years she worked with children and their parents to determine if they needed special education. She was passionate about helping children. She is survived by her sister, Flo; brother, Richie; son, Charles; son, Harry and grandson Chas. She had many friends and was member of a women’s group of about 7 women. The group met regularly for over 50 years and became like extended family.
A visitation for Mildred will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave, Glendale, NY 11385.
