It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laura Anne Kuck (Lukas) of Patterson, NY, who left us peacefully on June 27, 2024 at the age of 53. Born in Queens, NY on April 23, 1971 – Laura was a beacon of loyalty, strength, and unwavering directness to all who knew her.
Laura was brilliant and the one everyone would go to for help and answers. She had an insatiable curiosity and would research everything, ensuring she always had the right information. Her love for animals was well-known among her friends and family, and she had a special bond with her canine companions, who brought joy and companionship into her life.
She had a particular fondness for roast beef sandwiches with extra mayo and possessed the secret recipe for Matson’s potato salad, which she guarded closely. Laura was also an amazing cook who loved creating delicious meals for her loved ones, with her culinary skills being a source of joy and comfort for all who had the pleasure of dining at her table.
An avid decorator, Laura had a particular passion for Christmas. Her home would transform into a winter wonderland every holiday season, filled with festive decorations that brought joy to all who visited. She took great pride in hosting gatherings, where her guests felt the warmth of her hospitality and the care she put into every detail.
Laura had an enduring love for 80's music, often filling her home with the nostalgic sounds of her favorite decade. Also, she was known for her vocal political opinions, never hesitating to speak her mind on issues she was passionate about.
A dedicated paralegal, Laura was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her steadfast commitment to justice. Her colleagues admired her sharp mind and unwavering work ethic, qualities that made her an invaluable asset in the legal community and a close connection with her former boss, Vic Zimmerman and colleagues at Anderson Kill.
Laura was a private person, but those who were fortunate enough to be close to her knew her as someone who was fiercely loyal and direct. You always knew where you stood with Laura; her honesty and forthrightness were traits that her loved ones cherished deeply.
Laura shared a unique and strong bond with her mother, Marianne, and her brother, Albert. Having lost their father at a very young age, the three of them grew incredibly close, supporting one another through thick and thin. Though they didn't always see eye to eye, their headstrong natures only deepened their connection. This fostered a profound sense of loyalty, love, and mutual understanding that united them in a lasting, unbreakable bond.
In more recent years, Laura embraced the role of aunt to Albert and Covington. A good sport by nature, she wore it as a badge of honor when Albert named his beloved remote control T-Rex "Laura" after her. She had a unique and special bond with Covington, who was a dedicated pen pal to Laura’s beloved dog, Georgie. Covington often bore an uncanny resemblance to Laura as a child, with a number of side-by-side photos shared over the years. Laura was a very proud aunt and held celebrity status with her niece and nephew.
Laura cherished her "ride or die" best friend Lisa Bono Winter, with whom she shared secrets, fun, and just enough trouble not to mention here. Laura was also a devoted godmother to Lisa's daughters Analise (predeceased), Charlise and GraceAnn Winter.
Laura shared a close relationship and bond with her lifelong friend and former husband Eric Kuck, united by their love of animals, wicked sense of humor and cherished days spent on the lake.
Laura leaves behind her beloved dog Georgie, a small dog with a big personality. Georgie continually challenged Laura in a battle of wills, leaving it unclear who was truly in charge at home. Laura was often victorious in compelling Georgie into holiday-themed attire for each season. Laura's loyal dog walker, Derek Demane, was a cherished part of her daily life, ensuring Georgie received plenty of exercise and affection.
In recent years, Laura found happiness with her boyfriend, Tom Bonk, whose relationship brought joy and companionship to her life. Though their time together was private, it was filled with warmth and mutual respect.
