Celebration of Life: GEORGE MICHAEL WILLIAMS, JR. aka "Butchie" was blessed with life on September 12, 1949, in Brooklyn, NY to Mary Louise Williams (nee Scott) and George Uval Williams, he was the first child of a family of three children. As the eldest, he took on the role as protector, teacher, confidante and brother to his two younger siblings Ronald and Deborah. Georges' genius was seen at a young age, which led him to attend Brooklyn Technical High School where he graduated in 1967. He went on to attend Howard University in Washington, DC and later completed his education at Pace University in NY, NY with a BS Degree. Prior to attending Howard University, he met Delores Ayers, and they embarked on a whirlwind romance that led to their marriage in 1970 and the birth of their one daughter Tishana W Williams in 1969. They were so in sync with each other as a couple, Delores was able to apply for a position for him at Deloitte Haskins & Sells. He was appointed the position of CPA at Deloitte as one of the first black men at their Wall Street firm in 1970. He maintained his role with Deloitte on Wall Street until 1988, a brilliant career he was proud to claim as his accomplishment. George went on to work for Verizon as a Customer Specialist where he excelled as a representative and salesperson. He happily retired in 2019.
George was a charismatic, sweet, loving, sarcastic and comical man who truly loved his family and they returned that love in kind. He was a truly loving, protective and accommodating father and husband who was loved and will be genuinely missed. He acquired several friends over the years and maintained lifelong bonds. He had a love for children, and they gravitated toward him with joy and love. He was an exceptional father, brother, uncle and cousin to his family members. He loved his nieces and nephews with his whole heart, and they loved him dearly, my cousins saw my father as more than an uncle but as a friend, protector and a safe haven for them to be joyful, blossom and grow as the men and women they are today. My father put his best foot forward when he decided to engage in an activity or cause, he was a Freemason for several years, a role he took seriously and enjoyed his time as an active member. He was a shop steward while at Verizon and assisted several co-workers throughout the years. He was an advocate for voting rights and always campaigned to get others to Vote. My Dad was a true follower of politics and the state of our political climate.
George enjoyed life to the fullest, his loves included music, strategic games (chess, backgammon), films and tv specifically (westerns, sci-fi, action and classic cartoons), attending concerts, Karate, roller skating, bike riding and photography. Later in life he acquired an interest in travel and overcame his fear of flying and fulfilled his desire to see Alaska. George fought with resilience and strength the moment he was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2019 and he boldly managed dialysis and his overall health. He shocked his physicians on several occasions with his determination to battle the diagnosis and his health improved for quite a few years. He fought valiantly in the last four months to get healthy again, but Our Lord and Savior was ready to call him home and bless him with a new life in his Kingdom on March 19, 2025.
George was preceded in death by his parents Mary and George Williams, in-laws Nora and Sipio English, nephew Kendall J. Evans and Cousin Monica. He is survived by his daughter Tishana W Williams, his wife Delores Williams, his siblings Deborah Williams and Ronald Williams, sister in laws: Linda I Evans and Minnie-Mae Lewis, His nieces Keenya J Evans, Leah N Williams-El, nephews Michael Ayers, Lamont Ayers, Tyrone Williams, Vincent Lewis and Jonathan Williams.
