Wilma was born October 18, 1932, to Virgie and Clifton Kitchens in Checotah, Oklahoma. During her childhood, Wilma relocated with her family to Tolleson, Arizona where she met and married the love of her life, Ray Anderson Sr. They went on to have 3 children: Janice, Ray Jr., and Carol.
While the kids were growing up, Wilma decided to start a career at the Sperry Corporation. During her tenure, Wilma advanced through many leadership positions becoming a trailblazer as the first woman to serve in many of these roles. She made significant contributions to both the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs and retired in the late 80s.
After retirement, both Wilma and Ray spent a lot of their time traveling. Wilma enjoyed making quilts and other crafts. She was involved in the church and in both Peoria and Tonto Basin communities. She assisted in the establishment of the Tonto Basin Community Library and collection of books. Wilma was well known for her home-cooked meals. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones.
Wilma is predeceased by her son, Ray Jr., and is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Ray Anderson Sr., their daughters, Janice and Carol; grandchildren Darin, Kim, Aaron, Benjay, and Melissa; great-grandchildren Nathan, Deanna, Ariana, Tyler, Raylei, Avery, Hayden, Hailey, and Hannah and great-great-granddaughter Emilia.
Wilma lived a full and warm life filled with love and joy. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
