Steven had a love for education. He attended Sunnyslope High School and then in college received a BA in marketing. Still passionate about learning he went on to earn an MBA and Masters in Education from the University of Phoenix. He was a professor at several institutions and worked as an instructional design manager for the State of Arizona. He was excited to teach individuals both in the private sector and at his church. He loved to study the Hebrew language and he loved spreading the gospel.
Steven was also a photographer both professionally and privately. He received intense joy in his photographic works. He loved to capture and was most proud of his northern Arizona slot canyon photos. He looked for and found much symbolism in his photos and traveled far and wide to find that perfect photo. He also enjoyed shooting images for weddings and church events. In addition to collecting the best shots, he was an avid collector of Disney and Star Wars memorabilia.
Steven married Melissa Weber on October 22, 2010. They shared 12 years of marriage and a fairytale love for each other. He was her knight in shining armor, and she was his angel eyes. Steven and Melissa's relationship began when they were best friends from first grade through High School. Melissa moved into Steven’s neighborhood, just five houses away. They both enjoyed their playful walks to and from the bus stop and playing “kick the rock” and marbles as kids.
He is survived by his wife Melissa, two stepsons David Goodrich and Timothy Goodrich, sister Teri Barrus, Sister-in-law Kathleen Zitar, and seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Steven will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8710 N 3rd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85023 at 1:30 PM.
