Silverio “Chato” Rodriguez Urbano , 69, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2016 at Banner Hospice Grandview Terrace in Sun City West, AZ. He was born on January 4th, 1947 in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.
Chato is survived by his wife of 28 years Esther Galaviz; two sons Arthur Lomeli and Oscar Urbano; five daughters Alma Soto, Elsa Navarro, Francis Urbano, Esther Zubia, and Yvette Urbano; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild, brother Luis Urbano and several nieces and nephews.
Chato was a devoted husband, father, tio, nino, compadre and friend. His many interests included enjoying time with his familia, friends and especially playing music, and watching soccer and rodeos. In his youth, Chato played semi-pro soccer in Mexico. After an injury caused him to hang up his cleats, he never failed to root on his Chivas de Guadalajara. As an avid musician, he developed a passion for drumming, which allowed him the opportunity to play in local and nationally known bands, including fellow Mexicali musician Santana. This passion helped establish his beloved family of musicians and the AZ famous Cosmos 80 band. Cosmos 80’s popularity led them to several album recordings. Chato also worked at Glendale Elementary School District for over fifteen years, where he served administrators, staff and students with fondness. Chato will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.
