Sandra Claire Pitassi

formerly of Chicago, passed away December 17th with her family at her side after a long and very couragous battle. Sandy was born in 1942 in Chicago to Louis and Clara Shukstor. She met the love of her life, Sam, in Chicago and were married July 7, 1962. Her main focus and love were her children, family and friends - Sandy's love knew no boundries. She is known for her warm smile, huge heart and always having an empathetic ear. She is survived by her husband Sam F. Pitassi; children Sam P. (Susan) Pitassi, Susan C. (Mark) Allen, Sheryl M. Pitassi (Gary) Birks; grandchildren June, Sam Jr. Nicole, Sarah, Jake, Ashton, Mikey (Amanda) and Connor; great grandchildren Caleb, Makayla, Braylon and Trenton; Brother Kenneth Shukstor; sister-in-law Claire Pitassi; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceeded in death by her brother Louis Shukstor. A Celebration of Life will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10am with visitation from 9-10am. She will be laid to rest at National Memorial Cemetary of Arizona. Donations may be directed at Hospice of the Valley (Phoenix) or American Cancer Society.
