Sandra Kay Kennedy

Sandy was born in Indianapolis, IN on May 9th, 1947 to Charles Cyrus McKinnis and Martha Lee McKinnis. As a child of a military family, Sandy lived all over the world through her early years. Her family landed in Lawton, OK, where she graduated from Lawton High School. Sandy attended the University of St. Mary’s in Levenworth KS. She had with two children, Lisa Renee Kennedy and James Scott Kennedy II, with her husband at the time James Scott Kennedy. Sandy spent the majority of her career as a paralegal and finished her career at Chase bank, retiring in 2008. Sandy had zest for life, loving all things spiritual, nature, gardening, and cooking. She was a foodie and a holistic health enthusiast. Always at the center of her life, Sandy adored her children, including all her four-leggeds. Kind, spunky, friendly and easy-going, she was beloved by all who knew her.

Sandy will be dearly remembered by her two children, Lisa and Scott, her brother, Jack McKinnis, and Kevin Whelan and Lumenaria Goyer, the two children of her life partner, John Whelan, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha McKinnis.

A celebration of life will be held on August 9th, 2022, at 5pm at 7924 North 59th Avenue, Glendale, AZ at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary.
