Sorry for your loss but it was so nice to visit with you and family at visitation on May 13, 2010. Mr A, as I mentioned Mr A gave me my first job when I arrived in Arizona in 1975. We were located on the Base (Luke) @ 6th & D Street. 
I will always cherrish the work ethics that Mr A taught me. Also the fun times (BQ, Softball, Picnic ect) we had as group.
I lost my best friend (Otis) 19 Dec 2002. Just lean on God and he will keep
you strong-for God has been with me thru it all.

Just received the notice of Sam's passing.  Although I know Virginia very well from Banner Thunderbird, I only met Sam once at a grand party their kids arranged.  I loved reading the entries here, which clearly reflect a warm, funny, talented man, who helped many.  Of course, that would have to be, with the (as I always tell her) the "epitome of a true lady" for his wife.  A big loving hug, V.

Rest in peace Mr. A.  I will never forget the guidance you gave me during your time as CU Manager.  We had some of our best times in the 70's working in the small office on base.  You had the respect of everyone.  I still remember the joy when we hit that 1 million mark in assets when you took us all out for drinks.  Doris, Bonnie and I were very happy we got to visit with you earlier this year.

sam always made such good martinis.  of course they were filled with olives,lemon and garlic! all from his garden, no less.  i loved all the fresh fruit and veggies and my glass would be overflowing with them. i remember he would always joke and say would you like a little gin on that salad of yours?  good times!

The last time I came to visit; Grandma, Grandpa, Dad, Ver, Mason and I sat down and watched "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World." I believe it was Grandpa's choice. There was this one part in the movie that Grandpa thought was so funny, I've never seen him have such a big smile or laugh so hard. I can't remember the part in the movie becuase I couldn't take my eyes off Grandpa. I was drawn to the happiness he had watching that clip of an old movie. I'll never forget that smile! Love you Grandpa, I'll miss you!!

One of my fondest memories that Sam and I always had a good laugh over was the weekend that both Sam and Dad were judging at the same contest and apparently they didn't know that I was accompanying Dad and they booked Sam and Dad in the same room.  Imagine Sam's surprise when he walked into the room and saw me sitting on the bed (Dad was down in the lobby).  Sam got a big grin on his face and said "Are you going to be my roommate?"  I have so many fond memories of when the Laurel family moved to Phoenix and Sam and Virg became part of my barbershop family with all the many family get togethers.  I always loved talking to Sam as he was such a great and cheerful man and will be missed by all.  Virg, my deepest sympathy - he and Dad can now discuss how they think the judging program should be run!

I remember Lloyd saying Sam was the only person he could not make laugh;  and you just know Sam enjoyed frustrating Lloyd's efforts.  He always insisted on Rosye playing a song for him on the piano.  I will miss how Sam would talk to me until he had an update on everyone in my family - not just my kids but even brothers and sisters.  I had a gin martini in his honor this evening.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.  May you find comfort in the memories you hold of him.
He was the General Manager of Luke Federal Credit Union when I was hired in 1982.  I learned alot from him and always enjoyed our conversations.

As one of the "Knights" kids, I have way too many memories to write. I will never think of Superman without thinking of Sam.

Dear Virg, Terry, Marc and Sandy,

It is with deep regret that I heard of Sam's passing.....He was a special person, friend, Barbershopper, and fellow credit union manager. Although, in past years our contacts have been few, I will always remember the nice conversation we had at Denise's wedding reception at Terry's house.

I met the Aramians in 1960 when I first starting attending the Phoenix Saguaro Chapter meetings.  Sam was the chorus director.  I will always remember the Desert Knights and Sam's participation in that hilarious quartet.  He made a great "Superman".

For all the years that I participated in the Phoenix Chapter, I counted the Aramian family as part of my family.  We enjoyed many countless get-togethers, barbecues, card playing and all-around great fun.  Sam will be sorely missed by so many folks.

I pray that all of you have taken great encouragement from the scores of condolences and well-wishes by those that counted Sam as their friend.

Dear Family and Friends of Sam,

I only met Sam one time but I will be forever indebted to him for laying such a firm foundation for the credit union I love. 

I started work at Luke Federal Credit Union in 1998, long after Sam's retirement. From the beginning it was clear to me that my predecessors really cared and nurtured this institution. Sam was a big part of that history.

I am now the CEO of the Credit Union, now called Credit Union West. We will always honor the proud tradition and strong financial foundation that we are now entrusted with for our members.

Thank you Sam, for leaving such a solid legacy.

To Virginia and family, 

I am so sorry to hear about Sam.  He was quite the character and the world will have to cope with his loss.  

The Photo Gallery was fantastic and gave me more of an insight to Sam's life.  I know I only had short visits with him, but I must say I really liked him.  He was always upbeat and ready to laugh.  

I hope that this part in your life passes quickly and that when you remember Sam, you have a smile on your face as I do.

Proof that life lives on forever is in the eyes of my dearest friend, Marc Aramian. Sam is present in Marc's face, his demeanor, his spirit. I was lucky to meet Sam once, and it was like looking at my friend for the first time again. 

To all of the Aramians, and especially to you, Virg, my deepest condolences. And also my gratitude, for the richness of life that you have spread amongst so many of us who have been touched by this family.

Dear Virginia and family.  My deepest sympathies to you all - my heart is breaking. I send you my prayers and loving thoughts as you go through what is ahead of you.  Terry, I don't know if you remember me, but I worked at Luke Federal Credit Union as your Dad's Administrative Assistant for several years and loved (almost) every minute working with him.  He taught me so much, not only about the job I had to do, but about life as well.  Virginia, I still cherish the time Faye Davis and I visited you both at your home several years ago and am forever grateful to you for taking a picture of the three of us.  

I detest this (widow's) club you are now a part of.  Cliff has been gone for 1-1/2 years now and it's rough.  I wish you strength.  

To all of you, I send you a phrase that has helped me thru my difficult time - "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."  I'm so grateful he was a part of my life - I will never forget him!

The pictures and video are wonderful - thank you for all your hard work - it is a special gift you have given us all.

Sam hired me as a loan officer in 1974. This was my first job in the credit union movement. I will always remember the day he came to my desk and said " I have an -other duties as required job for me". It was cleaning the water fountain. I will always thank Sam for giving me my first opportunity and for the knowledge to never think I am to important to do what needs to be done. Sam gave me an insight to  and a deeper appreciation of the credit union movment.   I am sorry I am out of town. Please accept my condolences.  Tom Shipe

Dear Virg, Terry, Sandi and Marc: 

I was saddened to hear of Sam's death.  He was a wonderful part of my life as you are.  He will be sorely missed.  I will see you Thursday and Friday.  Will forward the e-mail to Phyllis and Amy.  I will let Ken know as he's in Europe and won't return until the 23rd of May. 

Sam's in heaven teaching the angels how to sing Barbershop style.  What a joy he was.

Sam hired me to work at Luke Credit Union in 1968, worked  for him till 1977. He encouraged me to take a leap of faith to help start another credit union.  Sam and I were good friends, almost the same height, we could look eye to eye.  I admired Sam for many things, the biggest in helping the other CU's to grow, he was humorous and fun to be around and we stayed friends all these years even though we did not see each other often, he will be missed.  God Bless Sam;s family and be with them in their time of sorrow, love to all of you.
