Ronald Allen Goodson

Ronald Allen Goodson, 85, of Peyton, Colorado, passed away on November 23, 2023. He was born on August 1, 1938 to the late Clyde and Bobbie Smith Goodson in St Louis, Missouri. After graduating from West Phoenix High School in 1956, he worked in construction. He then was employed as a Deputy Sheriff for Maricopa County Sheriff's Office for nearly ten years. He then hired on with the Department of Public Safety on August 1, 1970 with Academy Class #16. He was stationed in District 4 and served in Tacna, later transferring to Wickenburg and back to Yuma. He served as class counselor for Class 25 in 1974. In 1986, he and Judy Ogan Gifford married in Yuma. After several tours in uniform, Ron took on administrative positions in DPS Supply, Fleet Services and Licensing prior to retiring in January 2001. After retirement he and his wife, Judy, moved to Colorado where they remained until Ron's passing.

Ronald enjoyed shooting, hunting, camping and carpentry.

Ronald is survived by his wife Judy of 37 years, his daughter, Rhonda Goodson Romero in Phoenix, Arizona, and his son, Allen Goodson, of Minneola, Kansas.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at West Resthaven Cemetery located at 6450 W. Northern Avenue in Glendale, Arizona 85301.
