Robert “Bob” G. Delaney, 66, of Glendale, Arizona was called home on May 19, 2019 with his wife at his side. Robert was born on August 29, 1952 in Buffalo, New York to Helen Marie Delaney-Krtanjek. He grew up in Buffalo, New York and graduated from Sceneca High School in 1970. While in high school the military recruiters from the Navy were on campus to find men, who wanted to serve in the U. S. military. Because of the recruiters impact, Robert decided at that time that he was going to serve our country. Following high school, he enlisted in the Navy and remained faithful for 22 year, retiring in 1993 at the rank of HMCS (SW). Robert served as a Service Force Independent Duty Corpsman for 15 years; additionally, he was a National certified Instructor ( Teacher & Educator).
Following his Naval career Robert continued in Health Care education. Retiring in Glendale his first position was in Education Compliance and Director of Instructors at Apollo Skill center, which became Southwest Skill Center where is maintained oversite of the Vocational Nursing Program and the Medical Transcription Program. In 2006 he changed his focus from public education to the private sector and became the Chair of Academic Services for Brookline College here in Phoenix. Roberts final transition in health care occurred in 2012, when he stepped away as an educator to work in Pharmaceutical Customer Services. He worked for these companies in the Greater Phoenix area; Express Scripts, McKesson and Humana.
It was during Hospital Corps School that Robert met the Love of his life, Debra, who was in training to become a corpsman at the time. They were married on June 10, 1972 in Buffalo, New York and soon after were both assigned to their first duty station together at Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland. Robert and Debra started their family in August 1973 with the birth of their daughter Dawn Michelle and then Shane Robert was born in Spain in June 1976.
Robert was known to many people. Some called him “Bob”, and that is the way he introduced himself, while his family always called him Robert. That is how the family would tell if they were talking to “Bob’s” FRIENDS or to “Robert’s” family.
Robert is survived his wife and only Love Debra of 47 years; his daughter Dawn Michelle Brady; grandchildren Dylan (Fiancé’ Melissa) Delaney, Trevor and Nicole; friends Thomas & Addie Lyn Colgan, their children, Jason and Suzan Colgan, Daniel and Amy Kuhlman and grandchildren Everett Kuhlman and Gabriella Colgan; dear friend Karen Meehan his favorite sister in law, Tammy and husband Tom, and many other close friends and extended family.
Robert is preceded in death by his mother Helen M. Delaney, her husband Grandpa Frank Krtanjek and his son Shane Robert Delaney.
Service for Robert will be held on Friday May 24, 2019 at 10am at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary located at 7924 N 59th Ave. Glendale Arizona 85301.
