Richard Anderson lost his battle with Alzheimer’s and has gone to his final home. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones. Richard is survived by his life-long sweetheart, Donna Anderson, and his four daughters, Deborah Rimmer, (David), Kelly Murray, (Dan), Karen Dansie, (Ned), and Sandy Brimhall, (Ray), twelve grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Born in Salt Lake City, to Ethel and Henry Anderson, Richard had a rich and storied childhood along with his nine siblings, four of which he is survived by: Diane Volmer, Linda Walley, (Galen), George Anderson, (Pam), and Kenton Anderson (Marilyn). As a depression era child, he learned the value of hard work and thankfulness for what he had.
Richard had a successful twenty-year career with the Navy and retired into civilian life as a computer programmer in Salt Lake City with Univac Sperry Rand, where he excelled in his profession.
He will be remembered for his love of hiking, bicycling, writing poetry and stories, but mostly for his love of family and the way he could make us all laugh. We can still hear him playing his harmonica. O, Susanna, O don’t you cry for me – I’ve gone to Alabama with a banjo on my knee. Rest in Peace, sweet husband, loving father.
Service and memorial for Richard will be held in the auditorium at Glencroft Senior Living, 8611 N. 67th Ave., Glendale, AZ 85302 on Monday, February 6, 2023. Services will begin promptly at 5:30PM with military honors.
