She was born in Lockhart, TX on December 18, 1932.
Petra married Juventino Espinoza Gatica and raised her family in Glendale.
Many families have a “rock” that sets the law within the family she was that person. Petra took care of the discipline in the family and if it ever got to dad you were really in trouble! The family was “campesinos” she worked right alongside Juventino and they put in long hours of work in the fields. The kids joined them once they were old enough to work as well. Petra always told the kids if you don’t want to do this type of work, then finish school and do something better! Education for her kids was important to her as Petra wanted her children to do more than what she accomplished.
She is survived by eight children Manuel, Juan, Juventino Jr., Teresa, Irene Richards, Julia Ruiz, Martin & Maria, sister Maria Gonzales, 21 grandchildren & 22 great grandchildren. Petra was preceded in death by her husband Juventino, son Guadalupe and daughter Gloria Cañez.
Her strong religious convictions helped keep the family together. When everything was seemingly going against the family she would say “Dios es todo poderoso” God is All Powerful! She will be greatly missed!
