The Leckelt and Chevalier families want to thank their loved ones and friends for the tremendous outpouring of love and support following the tragic loss of our beloved Maurice Raymond Chevalier III on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. Maurice left us at the young age of 31. He served his country for 9 years as a member of the U.S. Army, retiring as a staff sergeant in 2012. He was twice a Purple Heart recipient while deployed to Iraq. Maurice's love for serving his country was surpassed only by his love of his children, family, friends and his brothers in service. Our hearts are broken, but we take comfort in knowing that Maurice is now at peace and free of the demons that haunted him.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 18 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Alternatively, a procession led by the Freedom Riders will depart at 8:30 a.m. from Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Avenue, Glendale. All are welcome, but please arrive by 8:00 a.m.
The Leckelt family will host a celebration reception for Maurice at 1 p.m. following the service at the clubhouse of Casa Del Sol residential community, 10960 N. 67th Avenue, Glendale. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Soldier's Best Friend in memory of Maurice Raymond Chevalier III.
Thank you from the Leckelt and Chevalier families.
