Mary Jane Martin Richardson 84, rejoined her heavenly Father on April 17th, 2014. Mary Jane, a longtime teacher in the Phoenix Union high school district, was devoted to her family, friends and faith. She was born in Fremont, Neb., on September 5th, 1929, and graduated from Fremont high school before obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree from Creighton University in 1951. The third of four daughters, Mary Jane learned compassion for others at a young age, and was always giving and kind. She married her high school sweetheart, Floyd Richardson, in 1952 and the two moved to Phoenix shortly afterward where they raised their five sons and daughter. Mary Jane was active in her church and community and chronicled her family’s genealogy, leaving a legacy for her descendents. In their almost 62 years of marriage, constant companions Floyd and Mary Jane enjoyed spending summers in Utah or with family in Nebraska and Iowa. She was an active member of the Maricopa chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ladies Guild of Our Lady of Perpetual Health Glendale. She was a founding member of the Daughters of Charity at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Phoenix. Mary Jane was a positive influence in the lives of many and she will be dearly missed especially by her husband Floyd; sons Rick, Walt, Joe, Mike (Mary), Paul (Sylvia), daughter Joan (Mike) Padilla; sister Lois Ann Martin; four grandsons, Brian (Kristin), Patrick (Gabriella), Matthew, William and granddaughter Kelsie Mitchell, and other family and friends. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday April 22nd with a rosary at 7pm at Chapel of the Chimes mortuary, 7924 North 59th Avenue, Glendale, with a funeral mass at 10:00 am Wednesday April 23rd at OLPH, 5614 W.
