He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Master’s in Music Education and was the Assistant Director of Bands. It was at the University of Arizona that he met his wife Patricia. He was commissioned into the Air Force and served four years as a Lt at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico.
After the military Lyle taught grade school and high school music for over 24 years in Ajo, Arizona, Glendale High School and Independence High School. He taught band, marching band, orchestra, jazz, choir and independent lessons as well.
He dedicated much of his life to service to the Lord including being church president for 14 years at Grace Lutheran church, serving in every church board office except treasurer, serving as the church choir director for over 19 years, giving music lessons to the grade school students, forming the grade school band, starting a men’s chorus and beginning two adult hand bell choirs.
Lyle had a passion for backpacking, hiking and camping and logged hundreds of miles enjoying God’s creation. He used this passion to also take part in Lutheran Pioneer trips.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years Patricia, his daughters Kris (Carson) Carter and Kathy (Craig) McEwan, his grandchildren Ashley Panetta, Kendall (Walker) Borghardt, Anthony Panetta, Chase Carter and Colby Carter and his sister Sharon (Jon) Guenther and nephews Derek (Cheryl) and Bryan (Terri) Guenther.
Funeral services will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church 5600 W. Palmaire Ave, Glendale Arizona) on June 18, 2022 at 10:30am. Committal will be private
