Levina Marie Randall, lovingly known as “Vinie,” passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years on January 6, 2025, in Glendale, Arizona. She was born on May 23, 1933, to Walter Frederick Rather and Alma Louise (Rippe) Rather.
Levina was a licensed practical nurse and retired after a fulfilling career caring for others. She enjoyed sewing, reading, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren. Levina was a devoted Lutheran and a cherished member of her community.
She married Gordon Randall on April 23, 1954, and together they shared 47 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on December 1, 2001. Levina and Gordon created a life filled with love, family, and faith.
Levina is survived by her loving children: Daniel (Dan) of Phoenix, AZ; Tamara (Tammy) of Goodland, KS; Tina of Phoenix, AZ; and Kevin & Rolann (Annie) Baney of Phoenix, AZ. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life: Nick Vint & family of Lincoln, NE; Shane MacDonald of San Tan, AZ; Lydia Mathews & family of Show Low, AZ; Tyler MacDonald of Goodland, KS; Willie Mathews & family of Benkelman, NE; Andrea Baney of Peoria, AZ; and Broc Baney of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Levina is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon (known as “Smokie”); her infant son, Royce; her parents, Walter and Alma Rather; and her brothers, Wilbur, Loris, and Arthur.
Levina’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Levina’s life will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, located at 3030 E Thunderbird Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032, on Saturday, January 18th. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, with the service starting at 11:00 AM and a reception to follow.
