My condolences to the family. I knew him growing up when we lived on Roanoke.  He and my brother David used to play together along with the Buvala boys and Scott Womack.  May he rest in peace.

Not once did we ever hear Kerry complain throughout all of his medical complications.  Take comfort knowing that he is no longer in pain ~ our love and prayers to you for peace and comfort.

From Nathan and Sarina Kesler in Texas, our prayers are going out to the Disbennet family.  I attended school with Kerry for twelve years (Cartwright Elementary grades 1 - 6, Frank Borman Jr. High grades 7 and 8, and Maryvale High School grades 9 - 12).  Kerry and I also attended Rev. G.E. Wesson's church in Phoenix together for all of our young and pre-teen years.

My most memorable years with Kerry were at Frank Borman in Jr. High; we played football together during many a lunch recess.  Kerry was a football NUT, and would gladly give you updates on the Dallas Cowboys.  He loved football but at the same time realized he had certain physical limitations as far as hard impacts, etc.  He would tell me, "Catch me if you can -- but you can't hit me hard in the chest!"  So we would play football and always be cognizant of how we tackled him -- if we could in fact catch him.  Kerry could RUN!

I remember his mother, Sis. Ernie, always wanting to be close when we played football.  She was the ever-watchful mother and would warn anyone on the football field if we were getting too rough (she was a school aid that patroled the playgrounds during recess).  She always had a word of praise for Kerry when he outran us and scored a touchdown.  Kerry had a temper, and sometimes his passion for football would combine with his temper and Ernie would be right there to referee the situation.

Kerry was quite aware of certain physical limitations but he wouldn't back down from anyone during a football game!  :0)

He was a real trooper, much tougher than I could ever be if I had lived his circumstances.  It is amazing to me how optimistic he could be, and maintain a positive attitude, with all the adversity he faced in his life.  I have no doubt that I could not have done half as well as he did if it were me in his shoes.  I am saddened by the fact that he is no longer with us, but encouraged and even excited that he pressed toward the mark, finished his race, and now dwells in the presence of God himself.  

Thank you, Kerry, for the memories.  We love you and will always love your family.

To the Disbennet Family,
We were so deeply saddened at the passing of Kerry.  We pray for comfort and peace during this time and the days to come.  It's not without a smile that we reflect on Kerry's infectious smile, and his great friendship to us.  Everything is right in Kerry's body now...he has his new body!
