Karyl Boyd

Karyl was born December 28, 1952 in Ames, Iowa to Richard and Ruth (Tomlinson) Boyd. She graduated from Ames High School in 1971.

Following high school, Karyl attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa, and completed the secretarial program. She worked as a secretary at the Iowa Department of Transportation, The Iowa Fish and Game Department, and the IRS in Des Moines, Iowa. While in Des Moines, she also had a thirteen-year tenure at the VA Hospital.

Karyl transferred from the VA Hospital to VA Benefits Administration in 1991 and worked there until her retirement in 2012. In 1999, she moved from Des Moines to Glendale to assume a new position with the VA Benefits Administration.

Karyl enjoyed various arts and crafts hobbies such as, painting, jewelry making, and knitting. She was an avid reader, especially with mystery stories.

Karyl is survived by her son Shawn, her mother Ruth Knaack of Green Valley, and her three brothers: David of Salem, Oregon, Steven of Greenville, North Carolina, and Jon of Philomath, Oregon. She is predeceased by her father, Richard Boyd.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:00am, at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 West Northern Avenue Glendale, Arizona 85301.
