Karen Elizabeth (Skaife) Webb, 81, of Glendale Arizona entered into the arms of Jesus, on her birthday August 19, 2019. Karen was born in 1938 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin to Elsie Marie (Christensen) and Reuben Allan Skaife the middle child of 4. When Karen was 13 her family moved to Spokane, Washington where she attended school and graduated from John R. Rogers High School. Karen also continued her education and completed some college classes. Karen met the Love of her life, Alan while hanging out at a diner called “The George House Café” in Vintage Spokane. This was a regular “hang out” for locals and Air Force personnel. They met by chance, and when Alan was asked why he thinks Karen was there, he said, “she was looking for me, ” and “I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was also looking for her.”
Karen and Alan were married on August 3, 1957 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Alan continued his 24 year career with the Air Force while Karen raised their 3 children. Karen kept herself busy, while keeping an eye on her children, as a Cub Scout leader, Boy Scout leader and Girl Scout leader. She was also the President of the “mother of twins’ club for a while, and was the neighborhood mom that everyone wanted to visit. She also was very artistic; she painted, did ceramics, and stained glass. Karen’s favorite color was green like her eyes. She collected spoons and for a while frogs too. Karen loved to listen to music and her favorites were old Lutheran hymns. After Alan retired Karen decided she wanted to start a career. So, in 1979 along with 2500 other applicants Karen applied at the Post Office. Karen was selected to be one of the 50 people chosen to roll out the pilot program to computerize the mail forwarding process. Karen continued her career there for the next 24 years retiring as a Contract Technician. Karen was also a Green Bay Packers Fan, due to the fact that her father grew up in an Orphanage in Green Bay. The founder to the Green Bay packers, Curly Lambeau, used to invite the orphans to have dinner with him in his home. Karen had a very strong personality. Her great granddaughter said it’s because she is a Leo born in the year of the Tiger, making her a “Liger”.
Karen will be remembered for her “Love and dedication” to everything she did.
Karen leaves behind her Love of 62 years, Alan; her children The Twins Michele Maland and Scott (Michele) Webb and Sean (Colleen) Webb; grandchildren Johnny, Ydel, Samantha, Ashley, Melanie, Crystal, Rebekkah and Jacob; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Yvonne (Marvin) and Kathleen; and her brother Jerome (Janet).
She was greeted in Heaven by her parents Reuben and Elsie and son in law John.
