Joseph Nuñez

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph F. Nunez, age 57, of Phoenix Arizona. Joey passed away on June 6, 2020 at 4:47 PM at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born on April 6, 1963 at Maricopa County Hospital, Phoenix Arizona, to Sarah and Joe Nunez.

Joey was born and raised in Glendale, Arizona. As a kid, he spent his days playing around the neighborhood and going to the Boy’s Club where his love for boxing started. That passion for boxing led him to participate in The Golden Gloves boxing competitions and also the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department. He recently returned to the boxing gym and was looking forward to rekindling his love for the sport.

Joey graduated from Gateway Community College in 1983 with his degree in Respiratory Therapy. He was a compassionate respiratory therapist and worked in his chosen field for 36 years. In 1999, he took some time to start his own flooring business. Joey had always done flooring which was a skill his father taught him.

Joey was kind of heart, compassionate, funny, and marched to the beat of his own drum. He loved life, the Lord, family, and friends. He went to great lengths to take care of people in need, not just in his profession but with family members. Joey was always excited to try different things. Some of his interests include golf, cooking and eating, skiing and snowboarding, live music, and traveling among many other things.

Joey is pre-deceased by his father, Joe Nunez. Survived by his mother, Sarah Nunez, life partner and best friend, Annmarie Bell, brother, Richard Nunez, Daughter, Kimberly Petty, and three grandchildren. He will be forever remembered and loved by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and dear friends.

Service will be held June 20, 2020 with a viewing from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and a blessing service from 5:00 – 6:00 PM. Masks requested.
