Johnny D. Gamboa, 89, of Glendale, Arizona entered into heaven on November 7, 2020. Johnny was born in Glendale, Arizona on March 7, 1931 to Petra (Diaz) and Alberto Gamboa, one of two sons. Johnny grew up in Glendale where he attended school and graduated from high school. In 1951 Johnny joined the Air force where he served for four years. He was very proud of his military service and this is where he learned in craft as a chef. After being discharge he secured a career at Luke Air force base where he served as a chef in the “Officer’s Mess” for 30 years. After retiring from Luke, he adventured into a family run business “Gamboa’s Bakery”, as the owner operator, for 25 plus more years, a proud Glendale merchant.
Johnny loved sports. ALL sports; football, basketball, baseball. He even played on the Glendale “Tigers” team for a while as the catcher. He loved cooking and preparing food, both as work and for his family.
Johnny married the love of his life, Aurora, sometime after starting his first career. Both grew up in the same town and their parents had been friends for many years. Johnny and Aurora had never formally met, but then one-day he arrived at Aurora’s work place and the rest is history; and to this day, nobody knows for sure how Johnny knew how to find Aurora at work. He did tell people that he married the “Crème de La Creme”. Together they made a home and had three children, John, David and Patricia.
Johnny leaves his behind his only true love Aurora; his children – John Edward Gamboa, David Michael Gamboa, and Patricia Ann (Zack) Munoz: Grandcildren – Monica, John Isac, Desiree, Camille, Danielle, Talia and Alyssa; seven great grandchildren and many other close family and friends.
He is preceded by his parents Alberto and Petra and his brother Jesus Gamboa.
