Age 28, died on May 27, 2011 in Diwar City, Afghanistan. John was born on June 30, 1982 in Price, Utah. He served in the United States Army, Company C, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry, 3 BCT, 10th Mountain Division for 1 year 3 months. John was a highly decorated soldier with the following medals: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Combat and Special Skills Badge Basic Marksmanship Qual Badge Expert, and Overseas Service Bar. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Rose Johnson; daughters: McKena Elizabeth Johnson, Marina Rose Humble, and unborn child Rae LeAnn Johnson; mother, Vicki LeAnn Dryer and husband Guy; father, John Merrill Johnson Jr. and wife Anita; sisters, Candis Mishelle Cook and Jami Lee Leach; half-sisters: Misty, Sidney, Hailey, Nikkole, and Taylor. John is also survived by both Maternal Grandparents and Paternal Grandmother, as well as a very large extended family. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 8 at Orangewood Church Of The Nazarene, 7510 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix. Military Honors will be held at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, Phoenix, immediately following the funeral services.
