John was born on Tuesday, February 13, 1962 to Lila Lee and Willie Gene Cullum, in Glendale, Arizona. He is the youngest of 4.
In the '80s, he graduated from Washington High School, got married, celebrated the birth of his first and second children and enlisted in the Army National Guard as an Ammunitions Specialist. He wanted to be a soldier. In the Army, he went on to receive medals in expert for rifle and grenade.
In the early '90s he sold his first home and went on a trip with his church group to explore the Holy land of Israel. It was also in the '90s that he began working for Cartwright School District, in the warehouse, where he eventually retired.
In 2008, John became a grandpa to his first grandchild and in 2017, his second.
After 2020, John was able to retire early and enjoy spending time doing things he loved, including biking, cooking, shooting, tending to his yard, archery, spending time with family and fishing.
He is survived by his mother, Lila, his children: Lucas and John, his siblings: Joel, Kathy and Mike, his grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles that share in his memory.
A funeral service with interment will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 9:00 AM at West Resthaven Funeral Home (6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301).
