John D. Comer, a retired minister of the Church of Christ, died October 5, 2022. He served for 69 years as a full time minister of the Church of Christ in Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arizona. On occasion, he was called for various services in Churches of Christ throughout the United States as well as his Christian brothers in Pakistan and India. An important aspect of his work in these countries was his tireless efforts in helping with the adoption of children to families in the United States. John spent many years assisting and guiding individuals regardless of race, religion or social status.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Frances M. Comer, his sons John S. Comer (Gina), David D. Comer (Presha), grandsons: John Thomas (Stephanie), Christian Michael, Stephen Matthew, Townes Jackson, as well as his great-grandchildren Connor McHale and Riley Mae and beloved niece Suzette Calloway.
One of his favorite and most often quoted chapters in the Bible was Isaiah 6, specifically verses 1 through 3 which read in part, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.”
