Ira Laverne Burgett

Ira L. Burgett, 66, of Glendale, passed away on November 22, 2022, in Glendale, Arizona. He was born on November 30, 1955, to the late (Harvey) Merle Burgett and Leona (Christiansen) Burgett in Glendale, Arizona. He attended Apollo High School class of 1973. Ira worked as a project manager among many other positions over the 29 years he worked for Swift Transportation. On December 1st, 1973, he married Patricia J. Orris in Glendale, Arizona.

Ira enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, playing pool, darts and working on his 1966 sports series Plymouth also known as Big Red. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved trying to get his grandson Jeremiah to say Papa. Ira loved his Saturday dates with his wife to Lily’s café. When he son Bryan was younger, they loved playing in the arcades of Valley West Mall. He also loved to watch drag racing with his son. To say he loved his place of employment, Swift would be an understatement they were much more than work they became family.

Ira is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Patricia, his son Bryan, grandson Jeremiah, his sister Judy Fisher (Burgett), among many sisters in laws, brothers in laws, nieces, and nephews. Ira was preceded in death by his Father (Harvey) Merle, Mother Leona, and eldest Brother Richard.

Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary on Monday December 5th ,2022 at 10:00-11:00 am. Services will be from 11:00-12:00 am. Laying to rest will take place at Resthaven Park Cemetery located at 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, Arizona at 12:30 pm. Please join us back at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary for refreshments and lunch from 1:00-3:00 pm.
