Ida is predeceased by her husband, Placido, her parents Feliberto and Selsa Griego, brother Lin Griego, sister Lupe Vallejos, grand parents Juan Jose and Tomasita Griego. Juan Jose (Che) and Tomasita were mainly responsible for her upbringing and her faith in the Lord.
Ida is lovingly remembered by Children, son David Sanchez (Marie) of Rio Rancho, NM, grandkids Gabriela Sanchez, Talia Sanchez, and Dominic Sanchez. Son Carlos Sanchez, of Gilbert, AZ, grandkids Erin Rodriguez (Victor), Derrick Sanchez, Taylor Sanchez, Zack Sanchez (Rachel), daughter Terri Crimp (Brian) Peoria, AZ, grandkids Michael Crimp, Brian Crimp (Abby), daughter Margaret Sanchez, Glendale, AZ, grandkids Joey Kress (Heather), Andrea Kress, and Steven Kress and son Lawrence Sanchez, Los Angeles, CA and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ida was born in Belen, New Mexico in May 30, 1926. She lived in La Joya, NM as a child and lived with her paternal grandparents. She graduated from Belen High School in 1943. She ended her career working for Apollo High School in the Glendale High School District of Arizona. She was instrumental in the advocacy of English as a Second Language (ESL) kids at Apollo since she was bilingual. Teachers as well as administrators relied on her to interact with the kids.
Ida enjoyed watching basketball. She always looked forward to going to her kids and grandkids' games...and of course the Phoenix Suns! She took over the TV if the Suns had a game!!
The funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, (http://www.olphglendale.com/), 5614 W. Orangewood Ave. Glendale AZ on May 5, 2018 at 10AM with Fr. Ryan Lee officiating. Interment to follow at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 West Northern Ave Glendale, AZ 85301 at 11:30am. A reception will take place at Resthaven immediately after internment.
