Gian Van Nguyen

Mr. Nguyen is preceded in death by his wife, Oanh Thi Nguyen. Mr. Nguyen is survived by nine children: Dung Nguyen and her husband Thinh Bui, Hang Nguyen and her husband Hoang Nguyen, Diep Nguyen and her husband Son Dang, Hanh Nguyen and her husband and Nhon Nguyen, Khanh Nguyen and his wife Julie Pham, Lien Nguyen and her husband Dai Nguyen, Hongloan Pham and her husband Vietquynh Pham, Chau Nguyen and her husband Viet Anh Vu, and Dante Doan Nguyen and his wife Ngoc Kim Nguyen, and he is also survived by a younger sister, Hoa Pham. He also leaves behind twenty grandchildren: and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Nguyen is a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as a Major in the South Vietnamese Army. He later served as a Major General in the 7th Corps Veteran Volunteers Honor Guard and received recognition from both the U.S. Vice Mayor Richard Fimes of Tucson City and President of the United States Barack Obama in appreciation of his volunteer service.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. and Friday, December 4, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at West Resthaven Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church, and he will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery near his beloved wife.
