Gerald Ray Williams, age 82, passed away on January 9, 2018 in Glendale, Arizona. He was born in Laurel, Iowa on July 1, 1935 to Everett Williams and Edna Pentico-Williams. Gerald proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, even fighting during the Vietnam War, and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He was stationed at many Air Force bases throughout his career including, Lackland in San Antonio, Texas, Tinker in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Osceola in Wisconsin, Ankara, Turkey, Scott in Belleville, Illinois, and finally Luke in Glendale, Arizona where he would retire from the Air Force. Upon retirement Gerald stayed at Luke Air Force Base, now in civil service, where he was the chief assistant director of base administration before retiring for good. Between active duty and civil service, Gerald would end up dedicating 44 years of his life to serving the U.S. Air Force. During this time he was able to earn an Associate in Arts degree from Glendale Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in management from Park College. Gerald was also a voracious reader, and enjoyed spending time with his wife Annie, and daughter Dena. He is survived by his wife Annie A. Williams, his daughter, Dena Williams, and his sister Theodora “Tedi” Williams. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Connie Mast and Beverly Hollingsworth, and his brother, Clayton Leroy Williams. Funeral services for Gerald will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 beginning with visitation at 10 AM followed by service at 11 AM both held at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ. He will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.
