Frances Charlene Chandler

Charlene Chandler, 81, a long-time resident of Phoenix, Arizona and a community volunteer, passed away at her home in Phoenix on June 21, 2012

Charlene was born February 23, 1931 in Independence, Mo. to Clarence Chelsa Persel and Hildred Maureen Smith Persel. Her father was a mechanic and her mother was a homemaker. Her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1940 when she was 9 years old. Charlene attended Isaac grade school where she graduated in 1944. Then continued her education at Phoenix Union High School for a brief time then continued to Tolleson High School where she graduated in 1948.

In 1948 Charlene met her first husband, Willis Decker and they married in Phoenix, Arizona in 1950. From 1950 to 1957 Charlene and Willis had five children….Danny, Donny, Diane, Darrell and Dennis. As her children grew, Charlene was known for being a devoted mother and homemaker. After her children were grown, Charlene moved to Mountain Grove Missouri with her husband for a brief period of time.

Charlene and Willis divorced and she moved to Winslow Arizona where she met her second husband Bill Chandler where they resided until they moved to Oklahoma and then to Camp Verde Arizona where they lived until 1999 where her husband passed away. In 2000 Charlene moved back to Phoenix, Arizona to the home where she began her life as a wife and mother.

Charlene is survived by 4 children… Danny (Littleton, Colorado) Donny (Flagstaff, Arizona) Diane (Surprise, Arizona) and Darrell (Show low, Arizona)…10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the Decker family and she will be greatly missed.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 5 to 8 PM at Green Acres Glendale Mortuary, and the funeral service will be on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 9 AM, also at Green Acres Glendale Mortuary, 5830 West Missouri Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. Interment will follow at West Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 West Northern Avenue, Glendale, AZ.

Jack and Tammy will welcome friends and family to their home following the interment @ 6301 West Becker Lane Glendale, Arizona 85304
