Emily is survived by children Linda (John) Kuhn and Glen (Yvonne) Galyon, daughter-in-law Mary Lou Galyon, 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister Alice Rinke.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Dalton Galyon, and her son Donald Galyon.
Emily was a talented seamstress and made most of her own clothes throughout her life. She continued that passion when she would make clothes for her daughter, grandchildren, and dolls. During her working years, Emily was employed by Alta Vista Grade School where she worked as a cafeteria clerk for 25 years. The students affectionately referred to her as “The Money Lady!” After retirement, she was a volunteer at John C. Lincoln Hospital until she was 92 years old. She was also on a bowling league until that same age. Emily enjoyed a good game of cards, and although she had hearing and vision problems, it did not stop her from being with other people for games, activities, and good conversation. In December 2017, Emily moved to Fellowship Square where she lived independently until her death. Even here, she enjoyed taking part in all of the games and activities of the day.
Family and friends are invited to attend services for Emily on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Fellowship Square 2002 W. Sunnyside Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona. She will be laid to rest the next day, Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, Arizona.
In lieu of flowers donations in Emily’s name can be made to the Macular Degeneration Association.
