Born July 26, 1957 in Heidelberg, Germany.
Cassandra was a loving and very caring daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, grandmother, friend, and devout Christian. After a courageous battle with cancer, Cassandra passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019.
Cassandra is survived by her husband of 25 years, Ernest Gonzales, her sons, Jedediah Ranney, Ezekiel Gonzales (Elena), daughter, Evie Puckett (Mathew), her mother, Hildegard LaPlaca, her sisters, Roberta Franke (Rick), Fran Bartlett (Rod), Suzette Long (Curtis), her brother Richard LaPlaca (Gail), her sister-in-law, Irene Newbury, her four grandchildren, Mia and Ian Puckett, Isaac and Aaliya Gonzales, one great-grandchild, Selena Gonzales, and extensive nieces and nephews.
Cassandra enjoyed spending time with family, watching movie classics and had a passion for dance and the cool pines of Flagstaff. She acquired her bachelor’s degree in 1995, while working and caring for her family. Following many years of caring for her elderly parents and in-laws, she returned to work where she was honored to serve as a Criminal Records Specialist with the Department of Public Safety in the Concealed Carry Unit and had the opportunity to make many new friends.
Cassandra was a breast cancer survivor of fourteen years before the cancer returned. She was extremely courageous in her fight against the disease and her beauty will be missed greatly.
Please join the family at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, AZ 85301, for a celebration of Cassandra’s life on Saturday, April 6th at 10:00 am. A lunch reception will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to Hospice of the Valley or the American Cancer Society. All checks should reference "Donation in memory of Cassandra Jean Gonzales."
