With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Barry Castillow, 81, beloved mother, sister and grandmother. Barbara passed away in Glendale, Arizona, on Monday, February 7, 2022 surrounded by her friends and family.
On April 29, 1940, Barbara was born to Perry Calvin Barry and Eunice Marie Douglas on her grandparent's farm in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. She immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. After attending Phoenix Union High School, Barbara attended and graduated from Camelback High in 1958. Shortly after graduating from high school, Barbara enlisted in the United States Air Force. She trained to be a flight attendant on military aircraft. Since Barbara loved the Air Force, she considered making a career out of it. While serving her country, she married 1st Lieutenant Harold ("Hal") Glenn Call, an Air Force officer, and had one daughter Anna Marie. Though she loved serving her country, she chose raising her family over the military.
After Barbara and Hal divorced, Barbara met and married Curtis Roy Castillow from Phoenix, Arizona. They had two children: Curtis Roy Jr. and Beth Ann. Everyone knew Barbara was a dedicated wife and mother and cherished time with her family and friends. In addition, she had a great sense of humor and charisma that endeared family and friends to her for life. Her family considered her a gifted and animated storyteller.
Though she felt she did no great thing in this lifetime, she did so many little things with great love. She was always loving: always loved. She asked so little but gave so very much. Though she held our hands for a while, she had our hearts forever. She is with God now until we meet her again.
She is survived by her three children, twenty-six grandchildren and her sister Jean Marie Smith.
There will be a viewing on Monday, February 14, at 9:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (23121 North 67th Ave, Glendale, Arizona). A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM in the same location.
