Age 87, passed away into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on November 14, 2011 at the Hospice Family Care Unit in Prescott, Arizona. Jeanne was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 9th, 1923. She was the daughter of Eugene Schaefer and Myrtle Florence (Jannell). Jeanne is survived by her brother Richard Schaefer (Marilyn) of Sun City Arizona; sons, David William Hancock (Ginger) of Prescott Arizona and Gregory Eugene Hancock of Wyoming; Six grandchildren, Joshua Hancock, Eden Grammond (Mike), Rebekah Russell (Michael), John Hancock (Hillary), Dawn Hancock, and Heather Hancock, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, George William Hancock. Jeanne was raised in Cleveland, Ohio where she met and married the love of her life, George. Jeanne stayed in Cleveland working in admissions at Western Reserve University, while George served his country in WWII and later attended Fenn College. In late 1949 Jeanne and George decided to move to Arizona, where they enjoyed living in the Phoenix area most of their lives. They both moved to Prescott in 2010. Jeanne worked for the Christ Presbyterian Church in Phoenix, Arizona for 13 years. She loved serving in the church that she and George attended and where Mike Moxness their very dear friend was pastor. Jeanne would often joke that the church secretary hears just about everything you can imagine! She also laughed about the day in 1985 when George came home and told her that he was retiring after 33 years with Salt River Project and she was retiring too. They enjoyed many wonderful times together. Jeanne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a wonderful support to all in her family and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. H. Askari, the staff of Pineview Care Home, and the staff of Hospice Family Care for the extraordinary care and support shown to us all. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 19th, 11:00am at West Resthaven Cemetery and Funeral Home at 6450 W. Northern Avenue in Glendale.
