Age 92, of Glendale, passed away on October 15, 2012. Anthony was born in Italy on January 28, 1920, son of the late Michael and Marie Colella. At the age of 3, Anthony came to America, through Ellis Island settling in Auburn, New York. Anthony served in the Army and was a World War II veteran. He worked as a corrections officer in the New York prison system until retiring and moving to Arizona. In Arizona, Anthony worked for Arizona Public Service until full retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Raphael's Catholic Church where he had numerous friends and considered them his extended family. Anthony was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as a 4th Degree Guard. He is survived by his daughters, Carol (David ) Rossi, Angela (the late Lynn) Wooden; sons, Michael D. Colella and Anthony (Delores) J. Colella Jr; brother Enrico Colella; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Anthony was preceded in death by his wife, Marian E. Colella; daughter, Patricia Ann Colella; brother, Frank Colella; and sister, Margaret Sawran. Anthony will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. We will all miss hearing him sing..."Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble." Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, on Sunday, October 21 at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, with Rosary at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 22 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 5525 W. Acoma Rd., Glendale. Interment will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Auburn, NY.
