Diane B. (Bonnel) Miner, 81, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Avery Heights in Hartford after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Alan S. Miner, who preceded her in death on August 26, 2009. She was born on May 29, 1930, daughter of the late Richard and Bertha (Hamel) Bonnel. She was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1948, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She later attended The Hartford Secretarial School, graduating in 1949. She was a church secretary for many years, working at Congregational House in Hartford and the Hartford Seminary and worked at the First Church of Christ (UCC) of Glastonbury from 1970 to 1999. She was married on June 3, 1950 at the Universalist Church on Fern Street in West Hartford, where she was also a secretary at the time. At the time of Alan's death in 2009, they had been married for 59 years. She had lived in East Hartford and South Glastonbury before moving to Avery Heights in her later years. Diane loved Cape Cod, crossword puzzles and cats. She vacationed at Brewster and Orleans on the Cape for nearly fifty years. She enjoyed owning many cats during her lifetime, including her last cat, Katy, who lived with her in Hartford when she first moved to Avery Heights. Diane leaves her daughter, Nancy D. Miner of Stafford Springs. She also leaves a cousin, Orpha B. Platt and her husband Frank of Mechanicville, NY, two dear family members, Ralph and Barbara Parson, of Clinton, CT, her life-long best friend, Lucille C. Marvin of Hartford and her dear friends, Janice and Paul Raff of Glastonbury. Her daughter Nancy would like to thank the staff of the Lucy Swift Wing at Avery Heights, who cared for her for many years. We had our differences over the years, Mom, but in the end, I hope we made it right. Rest in peace, Mom, until we meet again. Love, Nancy.
