Alice R. (Hunderlach) Robinson, 93, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2017. Alice was born and raised in Middletown, a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Bielefield) Hunderlach. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Middlesex Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at Hartford Hospital in the Neuro-Intensive Care for 18 years. She retired from the Rocky Hill Veterans Hospital after 18 years of service as Head Nurse. She was a devoted and active member of The Buckingham Congregational Church. Alice was known for her volunteerism, mainly with AA at the Rocky Hill Veterans’ Hospital, Glastonbury Nurses’ Study Group, and singing with the Choraltones for many years, the Choraltones merged with the Nayaug Men’s Chorus and evolved into the Glastonbury Chorus in which she remained active. Also active in AARP, being president twice for a total of five years. Also volunteered as a mentor and reader to school children, active in senior activities, formed a Glastonbury Red Hat group and Friends of the Senior Center, being awarded for volunteerism by the Glastonbury Business and Professional Women, the National AARP, Masonic Lodge and Glastonbury Garage #26. An active member of Buckingham Congregational Church for over 50 years, once serving as president, she also was involved in the wider church, CT Women’s Fellowship, Church Women United, Hartford East and Naubuc Green Interfaith Housing Executive Board.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Samuel Robinson in 1983. She is survived by her loving children, Wanda Stone and her husband Douglas of Ellington, Jo-Ann Glazewski and her husband William Moss of Ellington, David Glazewski and his wife Holly of Portland and Joseph “Jay” Glazewski Jr. of Croghan, NY, her loving sister Edith Rand of Middlefield and her five treasured grandchildren, Katherine Anna Stone of Beaver, PA, Heather Glazewski of West Hartford, Alexis Glazewski of Portland, Garrett Glazewski of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Dillon Glazewski of Fayetteville, NC and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Buckingham Congregational Church, (Buckingham for the Ministry to Revitalize the Church), 16 Cricket Lane, Glastonbury, CT 06033 or the Sierra Club Foundation, 2101 Webster Street, Suite 1250, Oakland, CA 94612. Alice’s celebration of life event will be Saturday February 25th at The Gallery Restaurant, 141 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT 06033, from 11:30AM-3PM. The Celebration of Life Service will take place at 12:30PM. Prior to the service from 11:30AM-12:30PM and after the service will be a time of visitation.
