Born October 11, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois to Adolph and Emma (Geier) Bessler; he married Neta Kathaleen Clark on August 8, 1955 in Pekin, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 27, 1992. He then enjoyed a 23 year relationship with Patricia Marx from June 5, 1993 until she passed away on July 9, 2016.
Surviving are his son, Roger (Laura) Bessler Jr, of Glasford; step-sons, P.Paul (Anita) Marx of Glasford, Jeffrey (Amanda) Marx of Pekin and Matthew (Lisa) Marx of Mapleton; his foster son, Donald Meiner; grandchildren, Alan (Georgie), Aneta, Jennifer, Kathaleen, Patrick, Brooklyn, Ryan, Stephanie, Joey and Phillip; and two great grandchildren.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Roger was a lifelong farmer in the Glasford area and also working as a Union carpenter for Becker Construction and Floyd Saupe Construction. He was also the co-owner of the former Granny’s Café in Glasford with his late wife Neta.
He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association.
He will be remembered for his laughter, telling jokes and helping anyone in need. He will be dearly missed.
Cremation has been accorded by Davison-Fulton-Woolsey Glasford Chapel. The family plans to celebrate his life at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Timber-Hollis Fire Department.
