Bill was born on July 30, 1946 in St. Louis, MO to George Herbert and Mary Ellen (Wright) Wollberg. He served as a Soil Analyst for the United States Army during the Vietnam War and graduated from the University of Missouri with a Masters degree in Educational Administration. After teaching briefly and working with his father-in-law in conveyors, Bill moved to Kansas City and began working with his brother, Robert, building four-plexes in Smithville. He then worked as a clinical research and quality assurance analyst for pharmaceutical companies for over 30 years.
Bill married Barbara (Vogts) in 1981, and was wholly devoted to her love and care through all aspects of their life together. Over their 43 year marriage, Bill and Barbara lovingly raised Bill’s two sons and their three children together. His children remember him as a gentle and dedicated father who supported them in all of their dreams and was endlessly proud of their accomplishments. Bill was also a loving and fun grandparent to his twelve grandchildren. Bill was a skilled craftsman and evidence of his handiwork was carefully shown throughout the family home. He was a long time member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and worshiped at King of Kings Lutheran Church.
Bill is preceded in death by his father and mother George and Mary Ellen Wollberg and his brother, Robert Thomas Wollberg.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Wollberg; his children: Chris Wollberg (Erin), Josh Wollberg (Michelle), Jon Wollberg (Liz), Karen Crider (Matt), Maggie Milner (Eric); and his grandchildren: Maya, Zane, Benjamin, Abigail, Cameron, Andrew, Lillian, Della, Harper, Callie, Cora, and Ellen; as well as his nephew, Matt Wollberg, and nieces, Beth Flume and Laura Wollberg.
