Bill served in the Army earning the Tank Crewman Award. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri and went to work for Russell Stover as a truck driver. He continued to drive for various firms for over 60 years. Bill married in 1957 and felt blessed to raise 3 children, enjoy 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren during his lifetime.
Bill's greatest passions were his family, truck driving, meeting and talking to people, and his pets. He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone he could, because Bill "never met a stranger”!
As a truck driver Bill was considered one of the greats by his peers and was asked several times to help prepare the next generation of drivers by teaching. As always, Bill accepted the challenge and passed along his knowledge to others for several years.
