Tom was born on April 26, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William and Bette Washburn. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1979. Tom was active at First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, IN, where he served as a deacon during his high school years. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1983, where he made many lifelong friends, he lovingly called “The Wombats”.
Tom moved to Kansas City in the mid 80’s, starting his rollercoaster ride of rooting for Kansas City sports. He was also an avid race fan, traveling to watch the Indy 500 for the past four decades. Tom was dedicated to his work and spent over 40 years in the collegiate sales industry, marking many achievements and making great friends along the way. He was an active member and volunteer at North Heartland Community Church. Tom was a loving father and a proud grandfather.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, William T. Washburn. He is survived by his beloved fiancé, Deborah Fowler; his mother, Bette Davenport; his sister, Gayle (Gary Tipton) Washburn; his children, Ryan Washburn and Delaney (Glen) Roe; and granddaughters, Josie Roe and Charlotte Holder.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at Hope Church at 4800 NW 88th St. Kansas City, MO 64154 on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11:00am. There will also be Visitation from 10:00-11:00am for those who wish to attend. Light refreshments will follow the service.
