Stephen D. Ashmore (Doc), 72, was born on May 6, 1945, in Kansas City, MO, to Artie L. and Geraldine Ashmore, and passed away peacefully at his home in Liberty, MO, on August 28. He is survived by his wife Cindy Green Ashmore; daughter, Cynthia M. Ashmore, Overland Park, KS; son, Brian (Julie) Ashmore, Lisle, IL; two grandchildren, Nolan and Katherine Ashmore, Lisle, IL; sister, Candice (David) Ranney, Lawrence, KS; brother, Mark Ashmore, Kansas City, MO; step-sister, Cheryl Weber, Overland Park, KS; step-brother, David (Suzanne) Osborne, Berryton, KS; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-father, Harold B. Osborne. Steve grew up in Mission and Prairie Village, KS. He attended Wentworth Military Academy and Shawnee Mission East High School. He joined the Navy, serving from 1968 to 1971, as a corpsman on the USS Energy. After returning home he made a career in finance and insurance sales, earning an associate’s degree along the way. He was married to Ginger Golden and they had 2 children, Brian and Cynthia. He later married Cindy Green Ashmore and they were married for 33 years. Steve had many hobbies that served him well after retiring due to health concerns. He enjoyed building model trains, was a self-taught painter, studied Kansas City history and genealogy, and loved getting together with his Navy buddies. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Memorial service 3:00pm Sat. Sept 2, 2017 White Chapel Funeral Home, Gladstone, MO.
