Stephen was born on May 27, 1982, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Jeffrey Ager of Liberty, Missouri, and Cheryl Schemm of Osage City, Kansas. Stephen was a graduate from Liberty High School in May of 2000. Stephen attended college at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. Stephen worked as a Corporate Financial Advisor. Stephen was a gifted salesman.
Stephen was married to Julie Wyant. Stephen and Julie went on to have two children, Caden Ager (age 19), and Kendyl Ager (age 9). Stephen was a devoted husband and loving, hands-on father to Caden and Kendyl. Stephen loved to plan activities with his kids over the weekends and summer breaks. Stephen learned to play golf with his Dad at a young age and continued to be an avid golfer into adulthood. As a child, Stephen was an exceptional soccer player. Stephen was very competitive and always did his best to rise to the occasion. Stephen loved to travel with his family and make lasting memories. Stephen had a unique sense of humor, he loved to laugh, and the sound of his laughter will be truly missed.
Stephen was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles Heitman and Bonna Cox, maternal aunt, Anna Schemm, and paternal grandmother, Barbara Ager. Stephen is survived by his wife, Julie Wyant, and children, Caden and Kendyl Ager, his father, Jeffrey Ager (Diane), mother, Cheryl Schemm, sisters LeeAnn Ager (Andre, Markeiths, Blake & Londyn), Natalie Schemm and Emily Ager, brother Joe Schemm, paternal grandfather, Raymond Ager, and many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and members of the Wyant/Zimmerman family.
Life will never be the same without you here with us, Stephen. You were taken from us too soon. We were so proud of you, Stephen, for the wonderful Dad you were to Kendyl and Caden. To watch you care and love your kids was amazing to witness. We can't believe we'll never hear your laughter, experience your goofiness, witness your generous heart and feel your warm embrace. You are irreplaceable. Your memory will never fade in our hearts. Not a day will go by when we won't think of you and miss you. We love you so very much, Stephen. Not only were you an amazing father, but you were a wonderful brother, uncle and son. With much love from your family.
Memorial service for Stephen will be at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in the Chapel on Saturday, August 12th, 2023. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. and service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
