She and her twin sister, Karen Faye, were born Jan. 24, 1939, to Lyle S. Howe and Edith M. Graham in Stockton, Kansas. Her parents and older brother, Donald, preceded her in death.
Sharon met and married her sweetheart of 62 years, Collins Ellis, while living in North Kansas City and after a year of dating, married him in a double wedding with her twin sister who married her sweetheart on May 8, 1960. Together they square-danced, bowled, played games, cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs, and listened to Elvis and old country music throughout their life.
They lived in North Kansas City, in Virginia when Collins was drafted into the Army, and finally settled in Smithville, Mo., where their home was built right next door to her twin sister. She and her twin played Yahtzee and walked the neighborhood every day, often wearing the same outfits without consulting each other.
She is the mother of two children, Sherrie C. Womack of Adelaide, Australia, and Collins Kirk Petitt, residing in Lebanon, Ill. She has six grandchildren, who at first wondered which twin was their grandma, and three beautiful great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to acknowledge the loving, wonderful care provided to Sharon by Missouri Palliative & Hospice Care. Words cannot express the love, concern, guidance and support provided by Terry, Denise, Christine, Amanda & Brittany especially. In addition, the care provided by Joy & Dan, and Joann of Visiting Angels [Kansas City North, Mo.] made it possible for this devoted couple to stay together in their home as she prepared to cross through the veil into the arms of Jesus and those she loves.
She will be interred at White Chapel cemetery in Gladstone, Mo. Any expressions of condolences can be made on their website at www.dwnwhitechapel.com
