Richard Lee Sanders

Richard Lee Sanders, age 69, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at his home. He was born July 16, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Billy and Margaret (Bass) Sanders.

Although we mourn the loss of Richard Lee Sanders, let's take a moment to celebrate his life and the memories we have of him. Richard was a hardworking man who found joy in the simple things in life, from taking care of his farm animals to his work as a grain inspector and later his love for driving a big rig. It's no surprise that he had friends at every stop along his travels, as his sense of humor made him a joy to be around.

Even at home, Richard was a social butterfly, always visiting his neighbors and brightening their day. Everyone that knew him knows how much he enjoyed a good steak and almost any candy. And let's not forget his beloved family, who he cherished dearly. His legacy lives on through his wife, children, grandchildren, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

While we say goodbye to Richard, let's remember the good times and the laughter he brought into our lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Margaret Sanders; two brothers, Robert Sanders and Larry Sanders; and one sister, Marie Stogsdale.

Rich is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rita Sanders, of the home; his children, Renee Sanders and Josh Ballinger of Kansas City, Missouri, Justin Sanders and his wife Kristen of Overbrook, Kansas, Ryan Sanders and wife Carie of Kansas City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Gavin Koepke and Ascher Sanders; one brother, David Sanders; two sisters, Jean Roberts and Sue Parker.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home at 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, Missouri, 64119 with burial to follow in the White Chapel Cemetery. A visitation will occur at 9:00 AM, prior to the service at the chapel.
